Arts Huntsville Goes to the Moon
On February 1, 2024 the community was welcomed, for the very first time, into the newly renovated rehearsal and office spaces of the Sandra Moon Community Complex.
The building, which was part of the old Grissom High School, opened a stunning 12,500 sq ft space managed by Arts Huntsville and including office and rehearsal spaces for use by local non-profits arts groups.
Imagine vibrant choruses, a dedicated youth orchestra, and the rich sounds of the Concert Band, all rehearsing and creating under one roof. Inaugural office tenants include Huntsville Community Chorus Association , Huntsville Master Chorale , Huntsville Youth Orchestra , Huntsville Concert Band and the Brass Band of Huntsville.
But wait, there’s more! The final phase of renovation will bring online a 600 seat performing arts theatre, special event space, and even Huntsville City Parks & Rec facilities.
Huge thanks to our visionary city leaders, Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle , District 3 City Council Member Dr. Jennie Robinson , City of Huntsville, Alabama – Government , and the Huntsville Parks and Recreation team for making this adaptive reuse project a reality.
This is more than just bricks and mortar – it’s a canvas for community creativity!
