It’s Never Too Late: Classes for Adults in Art, Dance, Music and More

Have you ever dreamed of being a dancer but never had lessons as a child? Did you watch that TikTok and now you really wish you could make your own jewelry? Those of us over a certain (ahem!) age may think the time is long past to learn a new skill in the arts.

Guess what!?

It is not too late.

In fact, it’s never too late to go after your art-filled dreams, even as an adult!

Adult Art Classes (Various Mediums)

• Burritt on the Mountain Folk School – Offers classes in stained glass, jewelry making, leather crafting, wood burning, and more.
• Huntsville Museum of Art’s Museum Academy – The museum offers classes for a wide range of ages in pastels, wheel throwing ceramics, stained glass, mixed media, acrylic painting, and more.
• The Vessel – There are in-depth wheel-throwing courses offered regularly for aspiring potters.
• Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment – Classes cover several art mediums taught by artists at Lowe Mill A&E.

Adult Dance and Stage Performance Classes

• Shenanigans Comedy Theatre – Classed on stand-up comedy, improv, and more. Interested in creating a class? They would love to hear your idea!
• Alabama Youth Ballet Theatre – Offers beginner ballet classes for adults, including Beginner Modern, FREE Men’s Ballet, Conditioning, and Tap. And for adults with prior dance experience, AYBT offers Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, and Pointe with Partnering.
• Element Dance Company – Adult hip-hop and contemporary ballet are offered in studio.
• Huntsville Swing Dance – There are weekly lessons and beginner dance options.
• Baila – Beginner class cycles start every month.
• Huntsville Ballet Company – Offers open division beginning classes (that can be drop-in) with no minimum requirements.

Adult Music Classes

• The Fret Shop – There are several full-time instructors available to teach on a monthly basis in store.
• Huntsville Symphony Orchestra – Adult intermediate and advanced string classes.
• Musicology School of Music – Enrollment is open year round for new students.
• Valley Conservatory – One-0n-one private lessons in piano, violin, cello, and more.
• Maitland Conservatory – This conservatory offers everything from piano and guitar lessons to digital art, music production, podcasting, vocal lessons and much more.
• Huntsville Concert Band’s New Horizon’s Band of Huntsville – Instrument lessons for those that have never played an instrument or haven’t played since school.
• The Cigar Box Guitar Store – Free classes the first Saturday of every month from 12  – 2 pm
